Sailor - Limited Edition Negoro Nuri Fountain Pens

Negoro-Nuri is an ancient and unique art form in Japan. This art form utilizes colored lacquers to create brilliant designs and patterns on any surface. Most commonly, it can be seen in bowls and decorative china in Japan. Different colors of lacquer are hand applied, layer upon layer, in precisely the same amounts to ensure a symmetric design. Once all of the layers have been applied, the artist takes a thin piece of charcoal, and gentle sands down to the original layer, exposing each consecutive layer, one after the other, creating a unique and striking pattern, that, in the case of Sailor’s Negoro-Nuri pens, appear southwestern in design. These hand applied designs differ from pen to pen only adding to the to beauty and warmth of the art form.
